A/Prof Paul Fishburn

Dr Paul FishburnAssociate Professor Paul Fishburn established the Skin Cancer Centre in 2009.

He completed a Bachelor of Pharmacy with First Class Honours prior to completing his medical degree from the University of Sydney; a Diploma in Practical Dermatology from the University of Wales; and a Master of Medicine degree in Skin Cancer from the University of Queensland.

After five years in General Medicine he attained Fellowship of Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. Since 2002 he has worked exclusively in the field of skin cancer medicine and surgery. From 2005 until 2010 he was the Censor of the Skin Cancer College of Australia and New Zealand where he devised the assessment program for fellowship of the college. He was an inaugural Fellow of the college by examination and received the college medal in the final exam.

From 2017, he has been a member of the guidelines committee, and a co-author of sections of the Australian Cancer Council publications on Guidelines for management of Melanoma and Keratinocytic (BCC and SCC) skin cancer.

In 2009 he was appointed Senior Lecturer in the Skin Cancer Unit of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Queensland where he is the course co-ordinator of Advanced Clinical Cases in skin cancer diagnosis and management. He was appointed an Associate Professor of Medicine within the Faculty of Medicine, University of Queensland, in 2021.

A/Prof Fishburn consults and operates (with local anaesthetic) at the Norwest and Mosman centres. He also has a surgical operating list at Crows Nest Day Hospital for patients who require sedation or general anaesthetic.

Dr Stewart Precians

Dr Stewart PreciansDr Stewart Precians established the Parramatta Skin Cancer Clinic in 1993. This was one of the first skin cancer clinics to start in Australia. Stewart brings to the centre a wealth of knowledge and experience in all aspects of skin cancer medicine and surgery. In addition, over the past 20 years he has assisted in the training and examination of skin cancer doctors.

He completed his medical degree at the University of Sydney and a Diploma in Practical Dermatology from the University of Wales. After several years working in General medicine he commenced working in skin cancer medicine and surgery. He has worked exclusively in this discipline since 1993. He was a contributor to the multidisciplinary working party expert panel as a primary care skin cancer doctor for the NHMRC publication Clinical Practice Guidelines for the Management of Cutaneous Melanoma (1999). He is experienced in the early detection and management of skin cancers.

Dr Raj Rajalingam

 

Dr Raj Rajalingam

Dr Rajalingam obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the University of New South Wales in 2003. After completing three years of internship and hospital training he undertook postgraduate training in the field of general practice through the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners from 2006 to 2008.

 

Whilst working in General Practice, he developed a passion for skin cancer management, transitioning into full time skin cancer work in 2011, commencing work at Norwest Skin Cancer Centre in 2014. He furthered his knowledge in skin cancer management by completing the Master of Medicine (Skin Cancer) through the University of Queensland in 2015.

 

In 2017 he spent the year completing a Diploma in Dermoscopy through the University of Graz (Austria) under the tutelage of world renowned experts in the field of dermoscopy, including Prof Harald Kittler. In 2019 he commenced further study towards a Master of Science Degree in the field of Dermoscopy and Preventative Dermato-oncology through the same university, from which he graduated in late 2022. 

 

In 2021 Raj was appointedSenior Lecturer in the field of skin cancer at the University of Queensland where he is one of the course co-ordinators of the Masters of Medicine Degree Program. A goal he hopes to achieve is to share his knowledge of skin cancer medicine to other aspiring doctors.

Dr Mehrnoosh Alian

Dr Mehrnoosh Alian studied Medicine and Surgery at Tabriz Univeristy of Medical Sciences and graduated with a Doctorate in Medicine. After completing 5 further years of post-graduate hospital training, she undertook post graduate training in general practice, and attained Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. Mehrnoosh developed a strong interest in skin cancer medicine whilst working in rural centres of Tasmania and NSW and has undertaken additional post-graduate training and qualifications in skin cancer diagnosis and management. She has completed the Diploma of Dermoscopy through the Skin Cancer College of Australasia and Certificates in Skin Cancer Medicine and Surgery through Healthcert/UQ. 

Dr Alian has a strong committment to teaching, both to undergraduates and registrars at her practice, and has been an invited speaker on the topic of Dermoscopy for Dermatologists at symposiums in Iran as well as for GPs in Australia.
